Re: upgrade is running! no import possible

Hello,

Transports can be performed at any point up to the REPACHK(2) phase, unless the repository has bee locked manually before then(in phase LOCKEU_PRE).
Before the repository is locked changes can safely be applied to the system.
If you make changes to the system after the repository lock you risk the whole upgrade.
The system will be inconsistent as this new data is not taken into consideration if manually imported while the system is locked.
If you would execute the tp UNLOCK_EU manually between REPACHK2 and MODPROF_TRANS(begin of downtime) the upgrade might get into trouble. If DDIC is imported or changed after the phase REPACHK2, the upgrade might fail, since the DDIC preparations on the shadow system may compute things wrong.

Aidan

Thanks Aidan  . You are correct.

We got reply from SAP Like below.

Transport should be freeze after the REPACHK_CLONE phase. That is the reason, you encounter the error message: "system in upgrade, no import possible".

There will be inconsistent as new data is not taken into consideration. Changes to the repository will not be taken into account if imported after the REPACHK_CLONE phase and the upgrade will probably fail due to inconsistencies.

We did not move the TR.

Balance User access on two nodes.

HI Experts,

We have a current situation where our report is hitting only one single node(Node A) and making a huge load and spikes in that server. The current CPU Runtime usage is 75-80 % but the CPU usage on the other node(Node B) is just 21%. Since we are getting complains from the fields from all over states saying the Reports are clocking and is taking very long time to get into and sometimes it even times out. The reason I can say at this time is due to the Load on Node A.

All I need to know is, How do I make a balance usage of both the nodes? How do I check how many user hit in each node?

We have a Red Hat Linux environment and We have SAP Business Objects 4.1 SP 5 Patch 6 installation.

This is Urgent. Any immediate help would be appreciated.

Thank you,

Chandan Ghimire

Hello Uday,

in the case of Access Method E an OMS (Output Management System) is used.

In this case R/3 prepares the spool, then passes the print data to the OMS.

After OMS has received the print data and processed it, it sends back a status information to R/3. This status information can be seen in transaction SP01, and you have copied this status information now.

This all means: sorry, but the OMS has reported this problem, and for this reason the OMS needs to be checked why this happened.

As SAP Note #502604 - "Problems with external Output Management Systems" describes, only the OMS can explain why - in this case - the "Device may require attention" has been sent as status.

(By the way: scn.sap.com/community/output-management is a separate Space for printing-related questions.)

Best regards,

Laszlo

Hello Laszlo,

Thank you for the reply.

Ok.I understood the problem is with the OMS.

We have a unispool server and a jetform server in between SAP and the output device.

I am not sure about the print queues  , Adobe output designer  and other related OMS <--> SAP concepts.

Also unispool server....If you can help me , I need to know the process after SAP output device is checked and is OK --> the print queues ? --> OMS ...The connections --> How? and how are they checked?

Our system configuration is SAP --> ADOBE XOMS / UNISPOOL --> OMS REMOTE --> PRINTER.

please help me understand this.

Thanks in advance,

Uday

Hello Uday,

how R/3 and OMS should interact with each other is described in this help document:

SAP Help

Also, there is a technical documentation about XOM:

BC-XOM Extension for Printer Administration

I know this is a very technical description, but perhaps you may find it useful.

Also: all of these documents are from SAP side. The OMS / Adobe XOM should be able to provide documentations too, which describe how they can function with R/3.

Best regards,

Laszlo

Hello,

Select that field and press the "F1" button .

I would say that you don't need to change it, unless the configuration guide you are following states otherwise.

Hi,

RFC Transfer Protocol with qRFC Version

Three transfer protocols are supported:

a) basXML protocol, valid for bgRFC, synchronous RFC, and asynchronous
RFC,

b) Classic RFC protocol, valid for bgRFC, synchronous RFC, and asynchronous
RFC,

c) Classic RFC protocol, valid for classic tRFC/qRFC, synchronous RFC, and
asynchronous RFC.

Hello,

We are going live in countries which uses latin 2 languages.

Currently we have the device types in Production which supports only latin 1 language.

Can you please let us know which device type I have to change to allow both latin1 and latin2 character printing correctly.

I have also gone through the SAP Notes 83502, 575916, 1097990 but don't find the required information on which device types to use for below.

Currently we have below device types in use.

Hello,

Is it possible to fetch “spool file” before it is passed to the “virtual device” in order to see what is the actual content of the spooled file?

We have an issue with printing so need to check.

Possibly a description missing... what is the release and support package level of the SAP_BASIS component, at the system where you see that "2"?
